Missions

The Mission and Stewardship Committee of Thompson Memorial Presbyterian Church provides financial, physical and spiritual support to those in need by faithfully administering the personal commitments and financial contributions of the congregation, in accordance with the instructions of our Lord Jesus Christ to feed his people and to make disciples of them.

TRENTON AREA SOUP KITCHEN - We meet in in the TMPC parking lot the fourth Thursday of each month at 9:15 AM.  We then carpool to Trenton to serve lunch to over 300 people.  After serving, we stop for lunch at Dominick's in Washington Crossing.  Contact the church office to sign up for this wonderful ministry opportunity or email John at johnsdavis@prodigy.net.  As volunteers for the last seven years, we have had the privilege of serving serving many men, women & children in numerous ways.  For questions on any of these programs or to get more involved, call the church office at 215-862-2440.

Harvest for the Hungry
The "recovery" may be hitting some, but not enough.  The need for food and shelter is at an all time high in our area!  Please pick up extra non-perishables and put them in the food cupboard at the entrance of Fellowship Hall.  We will distribute to food pantries in Lambertville, Doylestown & Morrisville.  Last year, we had incredible success with food drives resulting in car loads of food!  But now the cupboards are bare.  Your help is urgently needed.

Teach your children well and make it a family mission effort!  Email Heather Lyon at heatherlyon@comcast.net and pick a couple of weekend days you would be willing to spend 2 hours at a local supermarket collecting food.  Heather will contact the supermarket and let you know which date is possible.

Once the date is identified here’s all you need to do:  1) pick up the flyers, some brown supermarket bags and a sign from church to bring with you on the agreed day, 2) ask everyone entering the supermarket if they would like to participate in Thompson Memorial Presbyterian Church’s food drive for our local food pantries, 3) if they say yes, hand them the flyer which identifies the foods needed at the pantries, and 4) collect the items as people walk out of the store.  That’s it and it is so inspiring to see how generous people are!  This will be coordinated through Heather, Bill and Susan Achenbach before your food drive day!

It takes about 2 weeks to coordinate a supermarket date.  Saturday mornings, afternoons and Sunday afternoons are the best collection times.  Pick a couple of dates and identify the time you’d like to collect and email heatherlyon@comcast.net.  Please email or call if you have any questions!  Thanks so much for your help and involvement!

Stewardship
At the center of our stewardship emphasis this year is a single word: "One." This year, our congregation is exploring how God calls each "One" of us by name. One Person. One Passion. One Participant. One percent. Journey with us as we walk and work in Christ with trust, purpose and gratitude for who we are. Here are links to the My Gifts for God's Service form and our 2011 Pledge Card. Both are gladly accepted at any time during the year - The Gifts for God's Service form can be completed online, and a completed pledge card should be turned into the church office.
